Dr Ian Colvin

Dr Colvin is a GP partner and trainer in a thriving North London GP surgery, and enjoys GP leaderships roles for North Central London Integrated Care Board and Islington GP Federation.

With 26 years of ongoing full time NHS clinical experience, including 15 years as a GP partner,  he applies this breadth of clinical experience to his medical negligence expert witness work.

He has completed Inspire Medilaw's comprehensive training course: Expert Witness Training for Medical Professionals which includes training in:

• Excellence in expert witness report writing

• Ensuring you are effective, available, and responsive for legal colleagues  

• Courtroom skills, Conference with Counsel, and discussion of experts

Dr Colvin has earned the Expert Witness Certificate for Medical Professionals  through examination at the University of Strathclyde.  Certification included an evaluation of courtroom skills, which involved cross-examination from a Professor of Law.

He is fully conversant with part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules and the associated Practice Direction, and the Civil Justice Council Guidance for the Instruction of Experts in Civil Claims. 

He is a member of The Medico-Legal Society the National Expert Witness Agency, a vetted registered expert with the charity Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA), a vetted expert on the UK Register of Expert Witnesses,  and a registered expert with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

He is happy to be instructed in both claimant and defendant work in the field of medical negligence.

He completes approximately two expert witness reports per month.
